On October 8, 2026, Director of the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers Muhsinxuja Abdurahmonov met with a Polish delegation consisting of representatives of local self-government bodies, territorial structures, and the business community.
The negotiations focused on the organized employment of Uzbek citizens in Poland, training specialists in line with employers’ specific needs, and simplifying the process of obtaining work visas.
Starting cooperation with concrete projects
As noted at the meeting, since the beginning of 2026, nearly 500 Uzbek citizens have independently found employment in Poland. Currently, the Migration Agency has established contacts with four Polish companies, mainly operating in the transport and logistics sector.
It was proposed to expand cooperation to agriculture, industry, and other areas as well.
One of the key outcomes of the negotiations was the proposal to implement a pilot project for the organized employment of initially 10–20 specialists in Poland.
The possibility of launching this initiative based on cooperation between the Polish city of Drohichin and the Uzbek city of Nurafshon was considered.
First training, then decent employment
The Director of the Migration Agency presented opportunities for professional and language training of candidates in Uzbekistan based on specific orders from foreign employers.
Training programs cover professional skills, foreign language, occupational safety, technical safety, and cultural adaptation.
Depending on the candidates’ initial qualifications, the training process may last from several months to six months. For specialists with relevant certificates, this period may be shortened.
The Polish delegation positively assessed the approach based on the advance preparation of specific candidates for specific vacancies.
Focus on professional drivers and highly qualified specialists
Polish representatives noted the existing demand for professional drivers in the country.
In this regard, the Agency presented its experience of training drivers directly in Uzbekistan in cooperation with Germany and Japan, using foreign specialists and modern training equipment. It was proposed to establish a similar model in cooperation with Poland.
The training and employment of specialists with higher education in engineering, architecture, and management were also discussed as separate promising areas.
Work visas and direct contact with employers
The meeting emphasized the need to develop mechanisms to accelerate the issuance of work visas for candidates selected and trained within organized projects./
The Polish side expressed its readiness to further study this issue through territorial structures, business associations, and diplomatic channels.
In addition, Polish employers will be able to submit requests for the specialists they need through the xorijdaish.uz platform, while the Agency can select candidates and organize online or in-person interviews.
Next steps
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed interest in continuing work to identify professions and qualification requirements for the initial pilot project, prepare 10–20 candidates, coordinate visa procedures, and develop practical cooperation with Polish business circles.
The Migration Agency confirmed its readiness to cooperate in the selection and professional training of candidates and their organized employment.
