Congratulations to the Teachers and Mentors of Uzbekistan
2026-10-01 09:30:00 / Holidays

I sincerely and wholeheartedly congratulate you, all the educators of our country who have dedicated their lives to the most important and noble profession in the world — educating and nurturing the younger generation — on Teachers and Mentors’ Day, celebrated on October 1.
On this significant day, we become even more deeply aware that knowledge and enlightenment, education and culture are among the inexhaustible sources of strength and the growing potential of New Uzbekistan, as well as the foundation of our great achievements and noble qualities. With immense gratitude and respect, we bow to you, all the hardworking teachers and mentors who instill these values in our children and make a worthy contribution to the prosperity of our Motherland.
Dear Compatriots!
In today’s teachers and mentors, we see new people, a new generation of educators who open the door to the wonderful world of knowledge for every child who has just crossed the threshold of a kindergarten or school. Wholeheartedly devoted to their profession and working with complete dedication and love, they undoubtedly constitute the golden fund of our national pedagogy. In the work of such selfless teachers, in their professional excellence and generosity of spirit, I see a solid foundation for the Third Renaissance.
A school is like a garden of the future, and a teacher is therefore a gardener who skillfully nurtures the sprouts of hope, a source of kindness and care, and a beacon of enlightenment. That is why we will never tire of elevating and valuing the work of those engaged in such a responsible field.
Dear Friends!
I believe I would express the opinion of our entire nation by saying that among our most impressive achievements today, the results of the reforms in education are among the most significant. Yet just ten years ago, under extremely difficult circumstances for our society, parents were most concerned about the problems accumulated in this sphere, and the prestige of the teaching profession had declined. We worked diligently together with you, resolved many problems and overcame obstacles that hindered progress. Today, the education sector is developing dynamically, and the teaching profession is becoming increasingly respected.
This can be clearly seen in the following examples. Today, 40,000 teachers in the country receive salaries of $1,000, while 1,500 teachers earn more than $2,000. In the “Teacher of the Year” competition, held in a new format this year, 208 winners of the district and city stages were awarded monetary prizes totaling 616 million soums for the first time. Next year, similar incentive mechanisms will also be introduced for kindergarten educators and technical college instructors.
Over the past ten years, kindergartens with a capacity of 1.8 million places and schools with 1.5 million student places have been built in the country. More than 10,000 kindergartens and schools have acquired a modern appearance — something unprecedented in our history. Among the most important positive results are undoubtedly the establishment of entirely new types of educational institutions — Presidential, specialized and creative schools; the increase in the number of higher education institutions from 77 to 205; and the achievement of a 45-percent higher education enrollment rate.
The private sector is also developing consistently in education, creating a healthy competitive environment. Most importantly, a new generation of educators is emerging — teachers capable of working under new conditions and improving and demonstrating their knowledge and qualifications.
We have every reason to be proud of these major achievements in reforming the education sector.
Naturally, all this contributes to improving the quality and effectiveness of educational and upbringing work. It is encouraging that in 2026, students from our country won 228 medals at international Olympiads, including prize-winning places at the international Olympiads in chemistry and informatics held in Uzbekistan.
The country and our people know and highly appreciate your enormous contribution to the truly historic sporting success of our determined young men and women — the winners and prize-winners of the World Chess Olympiad and Paralympiad who brought glory to our Motherland around the world at the events that recently concluded in ancient Samarkand.
This year, the number of children who obtained certificates in foreign languages and academic subjects during their studies reached 100,000, while around 5,000 school graduates achieved the highest possible scores when entering higher education institutions.
It is also undoubtedly noteworthy that in the authoritative PISA ranking, Uzbek 15-year-old students rose by 32 positions in terms of subject proficiency and ranked 48th.
At the higher education institutions of the republic, 185 educational programs have undergone international accreditation, while 441 joint educational programs with foreign universities have been introduced. This is also a significant achievement.
Dear Compatriots!
The next decade will be an era of national progress for us, and we have set even higher goals for ourselves.
You, my dear friends, undoubtedly understand well that the solid foundation of national progress is the school, technical college and university. And in this endeavor, we rely first and foremost on you — our respected teachers and mentors. During the meeting with representatives of the education and upbringing system, we thoroughly discussed the pressing tasks facing us in this sphere and ways to address them.
To encourage outstanding educators, it has been decided to establish the Abdulla Avloni State Prize. I am confident that this will inspire you to reach even greater heights.
From now on, we will organize work in families, mahallas, schools, technical colleges and universities in a new way to instill in children love for the Motherland, pride in it, a sense of responsibility for its destiny, and respect for our history and culture. At the same time, we must strictly adhere to the requirements of our complex times. The call, “Educating the younger generation is a sacred duty and the responsibility of the entire society,” must resonate in the heart of each and every one of us and become the measure and meaning of our daily lives.
I am confident that you, esteemed teachers and mentors, fully understanding the immense importance of shaping the youth of Uzbekistan into a forward-looking generation inspired by the noble idea, “For the sake of the Motherland, for the sake of the nation and the people!”, will actively participate in these processes, drawing upon your extensive knowledge and rich experience, talent and professional mastery.
Once again, I wholeheartedly congratulate you all and wish you good health, happiness and prosperity.
I wish you every success in fulfilling your honorable and noble mission, dear teachers and mentors!
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
