President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as part of his state visit to the Republic of Korea, held a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Cho Jung-sik on September 15.
 

It was emphasized that the parliaments of the two countries play an important role in promoting special strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Korea.
 

Interparliamentary “friendship groups” are actively working, regular visits by parliamentary delegations are being carried out, and effective exchanges of experience have been established between the relevant committees of the legislative bodies.
 

With the support of the National Assembly and the Korea International Cooperation Agency, the “E-Parliament” project is being implemented in both chambers of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
 

The need to establish a mechanism of cooperation to ensure parliamentary monitoring of the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, primarily on expanding trade and economic, investment, and cultural and humanitarian ties, was emphasized.
 

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold a number of events in the area of “parliamentary diplomacy” in 2027, marking the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Korea.
