Independence – A Celebration of Gratitude

Independence was not achieved on its own. Behind it lie the hardships endured by our people, the loss of rights and freedoms, sacrifices made in the name of spirituality and enlightenment, the blood shed by our ancestors, and many lives spent without fulfillment.
As we celebrate our Independence, looking back at our past, we can vividly see the challenges we have overcome and the achievements we have attained, as if watching a documentary film. Taking a deep breath, we express our gratitude for Independence and for all the blessings it has brought.
Independence Day is the celebration of national independence. Independence is the eternal and sacred dream of every nation. Therefore, Independence Day is celebrated as the greatest national holiday by all free and sovereign peoples who enjoy equal status and hold their rightful place in the international community.
The Republic of Uzbekistan gained its state independence on August 31, 1991. September 1 was declared Independence Day — the national holiday of Independence.
Today, it is the most sacred and greatest national holiday in Uzbekistan.
Independence Day is included among the official public holidays observed throughout the country in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Public Holidays,” adopted on July 3, 1992, and Article 131 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, adopted by the Oliy Majlis on December 21, 1995.
Independence Day is widely celebrated by our entire nation with great joy and high spirits. On this day, the achievements of the country are reviewed, bold steps toward the future are outlined, and the highest state awards are presented.
