On May 18–19, 2026, the capital city of Uzbekistan will host the “International Migration Forum–2026” under the theme: “Social and Legal Protection of Labor Migrants and Their Family Members.”
The prestigious event is being organized by the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The forum will focus on modern approaches to labor migration, protection of migrants’ rights and interests, improvement of safe and legal migration mechanisms, and further expansion of international cooperation.
Within the framework of the forum, plenary sessions with the participation of international experts, as well as panel discussions dedicated to labor migration, professional qualifications, gender equality, youth policy, and the impact of climate change on migration processes are planned.
In addition, bilateral and multilateral meetings among employers, government agencies, and international organizations will be held, along with a press conference for international and local media representatives.
The event is expected to bring together representatives of UN system organizations, international institutions, government bodies, employers from European and Asian countries, civil society institutions, experts, and media representatives. More than 300 international participants are expected to attend.
The main idea of the forum is to strengthen effective international cooperation mechanisms that promote safe, orderly, and regular migration, uphold human dignity, and contribute to sustainable development.
It should be noted that the forum will further strengthen Uzbekistan’s reputation as a country pursuing an open and humane migration policy, as well as its role as a center for international dialogue and constructive initiatives.
