As part of the agreement, an understanding was reached on the return of the first tranche—USD 131 million. Of these funds, 5,841 pieces of modern medical equipment across 23 categories were purchased for 230 perinatal centers nationwide. With the savings achieved, it is planned to procure over 1,400 additional medical devices.
Simultaneously, UN agencies have trained more than 11,000 healthcare professionals. Twenty-nine national protocols and guidelines for medical services in maternity facilities have been updated to meet international standards.
The education initiatives under the Ishonch Fund are being implemented in two components. The first component launched a project to expand educational opportunities through information technologies and digital solutions. Under the second component—developed in partnership with international organizations—a project proposal was drawn up to improve school sanitation and hygiene systems, modernize heating, and involve local communities in school governance.
We welcome and commend the return of these illicit assets seized in Switzerland for the benefit of the people of Uzbekistan. We also express our gratitude to all international organizations and their representatives who have contributed to this agreement and its associated social projects.
