The meeting was attended by Irina Voitekhovitch, Senior Energy Specialist, Bhattacharjee Kanti and Talgat Khudaybergenov, consultants at the World Bank and representatives of the Ministry’s Green Economy Development Department and the Public Debt Department.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the work being carried out within the framework of the District Heating Energy Efficiency Project and Technical Assistance mission in support of the Distributed Solar Photovoltaic Financing Program for Uzbekistan, in particular, the techno-economic assessment aimed at decarbonizing the heating sector of Uzbekistan by reducing greenhouse gases by 2050, and the study of in-building and in-apartment infrastructure.
World Bank representatives emphasized the importance of assessing the level of preparedness and availability of qualified personnel for the operation of newly installed equipment by district heating companies to ensure the success and sustainability of the project.
During the discussions, preliminary results on sustainable heating and cooling options were reviewed. The goal is to develop long-term, practical and sustainable strategies for the decarbonization of Uzbekistan’s heating sector. These strategies aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote clean, individual heating solutions across the country.
