Cooperation Priorities Discussed with World Bank Group President Ajay Banga

The meeting was attended by Anna Bjerde, Managing Director of Operations at the World Bank; Imad Fakhoury, IFC Regional Vice President for the Middle East and Central Asia; Nodirbek Ochilov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Jasur Karshibayev, Adviser to the Minister of Economy and Finance; and other relevant officials.
The discussions focused on macroeconomic trends in Uzbekistan, ongoing reforms, and prospects for further developing mutually beneficial cooperation with the World Bank Group.
Particular attention was paid to ensuring sustainable economic growth, creating new jobs, and attracting private investment. The parties exchanged views on prospects for expanding economic opportunities through the development of infrastructure and energy, agribusiness, healthcare, tourism, and higher value-added manufacturing.
The discussions also covered the implementation of AgriConnect, an initiative aimed at developing agriculture, and Water Compact, which seeks to improve the efficiency of water resource management.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to further develop cooperation and expand initiatives related to the issues discussed.
