Meeting held with international experts on pension reform

The meeting was attended by André Picard, Head of the Actuarial Services Unit of the Social Protection Department of the International Labour Organization; Csaba Fehér, Senior Economist at the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund; and Himanshi Jain, Senior Social Protection Specialist at the World Bank.
The meeting focused on key areas for further improving the pension system, taking into account international experience and the country’s socio-economic characteristics.
Particular attention was paid to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the pension system, improving mechanisms for determining and accruing pension entitlements, expanding pension coverage, developing the funded component of the pension system, and adapting the system to demographic changes.
The participants also discussed possible approaches to further developing the architecture of the pension system, including approaches to combining different pension components.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on pension fund management, the development of individual pension accounts, investment mechanisms, and institutional approaches to pension asset management.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the future directions of pension reform and emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation among experts, taking into account actuarial, financial, and social considerations.
