New Economic Growth Directions Discussed with World Bank Representatives

The meeting was attended by Naji Benhassine, World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia; Abebe Adugna, Regional Director for Prosperity in the Europe and Central Asia Region; Neil McKain, Regional Manager of the International Finance Corporation for Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan; as well as other representatives.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for advancing Uzbekistan’s economy to a new stage of development, sustaining high economic growth, and identifying new sources of growth.
Particular attention was paid to supporting ongoing economic reforms, strengthening private sector activity, promoting investment, and further developing favorable conditions for the creation of new and quality jobs.
The parties also exchanged views on enhancing the potential of economic sectors, further improving the business environment, strengthening the competitiveness of the economy, and expanding Uzbekistan’s participation in global value chains.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue constructive dialogue, further support economic reforms, and expand cooperation in exploring new opportunities for Uzbekistan’s long-term, sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
