India and Uzbekistan Discuss Economic and Financial Cooperation

The meeting was held in New Delhi on Sunday. The two sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral economic and financial ties.
The talks took place amid expanding economic cooperation between India and Central Asian countries. Closer cooperation in trade, investment and finance is being considered as one of the areas for developing the region’s economic ties.
The ministers focused on areas in which India and Uzbekistan could expand institutional and economic cooperation.
The meeting also took place as India seeks to strengthen its ties with Central Asia by developing economic cooperation and transport connectivity with the region.
As the most populous country in Central Asia and one of the region’s major economies, Uzbekistan holds an important position in India’s economic engagement with Central Asia.
At the same time, the Indian Ministry of Finance did not disclose details of the specific sectors or initiatives discussed during the meeting.
