During the meeting, the parties discussed promising areas of bilateral cooperation, including strengthening institutional collaboration, enhancing human capital, and conducting joint analytical research.

The participants were also briefed on the Japan–IMF Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA), with particular emphasis on the programme’s objectives, significance, and benefits for the professional development of employees of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Implemented jointly by the Government of Japan and the IMF, JISPA is a prestigious scholarship programme aimed at developing highly qualified specialists working in the public sector across the Asia-Pacific region. The programme focuses on building expertise in economic policy, macroeconomic analysis, public finance, and institutional governance.

Under the programme, participants are offered the opportunity to pursue Master’s and Doctoral degrees in economics, macroeconomics, public policy, and public finance at leading universities in Japan. The curriculum is designed in accordance with international academic standards and combines rigorous theoretical instruction with practical application, equipping participants with advanced approaches to designing and implementing economic reforms.

Beyond academic training, the JISPA programme provides participants with valuable opportunities to engage with international experts, scholars, and public sector professionals. This exchange of knowledge and experience helps strengthen strategic thinking, analytical capabilities, and effective public administration skills.

Upon successful completion of the programme, scholarship recipients are expected to return to the Ministry, where they will contribute to the formulation of economic policy, the strengthening of financial stability, and the implementation of reforms aimed at ensuring sustainable economic development.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Ministry and the IMF reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further expanding cooperation and jointly implementing promising future initiatives.
