Efforts underway to improve public services and regulation in the jewelry sector

During the event, participants were informed about the reforms being implemented in the circulation of precious metals and gemstones, the results achieved to date, and key priorities for future development. It was noted that demand for assaying and hallmarking services has been steadily increasing in recent years. In particular, more than 989 kilograms of jewelry items were assayed and hallmarked in 2023, while the figure reached 1.141 tons in 2024. By the end of 2025, the volume had increased to nearly 1.5 tons.
The press conference also highlighted ongoing technical and gemological examination activities in the precious metals and gemstones sector, as well as efforts aimed at introducing international standards and enhancing the qualifications of industry specialists.
It was further emphasized that licensing and permitting procedures have been fully digitalized, enabling public services to be delivered electronically without direct human interaction. As of 1 June 2026, the number of entities operating in the precious metals and gemstones sector nationwide reached 2,778, while the total number of permits issued across various activities amounted to 4,059.
Participants were also briefed on measures being taken to ensure compliance with legislation, prevent violations, and strengthen anti-corruption efforts within the sector. Particular attention was given to the digitalization of licensing processes, the introduction of video surveillance systems in service delivery procedures, and the use of modern technical tools for supervisory activities.
The event concluded with an open discussion involving media representatives and entrepreneurs, during which participants exchanged views and discussed proposals for the further development of the sector.
