The event was attended by Jamshid Kuchkarov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Naji Benhassin, World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia; and representatives from the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, and various ministries and agencies.
The event was aimed at summarizing the results of the comprehensive economic reforms implemented in the country with the support of the World Bank and defining new directions to sustain growth rates in the next stage.
During the event, it was emphasized that sustainable growth rates have been achieved as a result of economic transformations carried out in recent years under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, based on the principles of openness and market economy. Furthermore, within the framework of the "Uzbekistan-2030" Strategy, diversifying the economy, expanding the private sector, and creating high-value-added jobs were noted as priority areas of cooperation.
During the discussions, views were exchanged on key areas that will contribute to the further acceleration of economic growth. Particular attention was paid to strengthening the competitive environment, increasing investment attractiveness, developing the financial sector, and improving international trade and logistics systems.
Additionally, it was noted that developing human capital and modernizing the education and healthcare systems are important factors in improving the population's well-being.
As part of the event, World Bank experts gave a presentation on the main directions of the new DPO program, which is aimed at supporting economic reforms. The experts emphasized the importance of increasing the role of the private sector by developing the country's transport and digital infrastructure, expanding financial market opportunities, further improving the business environment, and gradually reducing state participation.
At the conclusion of the discussions, the parties agreed to expand cooperation in the consistent continuation of economic reforms and to implement specific and effective measures under the new DPO program.
