An exchange of views was held with representatives of international financial institutions on macroeconomic trends in our country

The meeting was attended by Naji Benhassin, World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia; Yasser Abdih, Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission for Uzbekistan; Koba Gvenetadze, IMF Resident Representative in Uzbekistan; Kanokpan Lao-Araya, Asian Development Bank Country Director for Uzbekistan; Hong Wei, Head of the Client Relations Department at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, as well as senior officials from the IFIs and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the sustained economic growth rates in our country in recent years, as well as the development of measures to continue this growth and maintain macroeconomic stability.
The meeting also highlighted the need to accelerate economic development by further expanding cooperation with international financial institutions, exchanging experience, and implementing large-scale joint projects.
In particular, special attention was given to developing cooperation in various sectors of the economy, including industry, infrastructure, agriculture, small and SMEs, and transport and logistics.
The parties also emphasized the importance of effectively utilizing the demographic dividend, developing human capital, and supporting IT, artificial intelligence, innovation, and regional development. Additionally, they addressed issues of water resource management, strengthening climate change adaptation measures, and developing sustainable infrastructure.
In turn, representatives of IFIs highly praised the large-scale reforms being carried out in our country, particularly the measures to enhance economic and institutional development and improve the business environment. They expressed their readiness to effectively continue and expand cooperation into new areas.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to further develop cooperation and broaden the exchange of views in the aforementioned areas.
