Agreements have been reached on implementing the ESG and RBC system for small and medium-sized businesses in Uzbekistan

The main objective of the event was to present the results of the diagnostic assessment conducted in the areas of ESG and RBC, discuss existing challenges and risks, and define priority approaches for developing a national ESG system and strategy for SMEs.
The event was attended by representatives of ministries and agencies, business associations, international organizations, and experts. In the opening remarks, it was emphasized that the introduction of ESG principles plays a crucial role in enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs, expanding their export potential, and ensuring their integration into international markets.
During the discussions, participants reviewed the current state of SME activities, the environmental, social, and corporate governance challenges they face, as well as the importance of international ESG standards for the national economy.
In addition, key ESG risks in the textile, food processing, chemical, construction materials, and mechanical engineering industries were discussed, along with existing institutional and coordination gaps.
At the conclusion of the event, general approaches based on the diagnostic findings in the field of ESG and RBC were endorsed, and an agreement was reached on the next stages of developing a national ESG system and strategy for SMEs.
The implementation of the project will contribute to ensuring the sustainable development of SMEs, supporting their alignment with international standards, and expanding their participation in global value chains.
