A presentation of a report on “Long-term low-carbon development options and pathways” was held

The event was formally opened by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Umid Abidkhadjayev, and the World Bank Program Coordinator for Uzbekistan, Ms. Anastassia Alexandrova, who delivered introductory remarks highlighting the importance and core principles of low-carbon development in the country.
In their presentations, Ms. Elena Golub, Senior Environmental Economist for the Europe and Central Asia Region of the World Bank, and Mr. George Vourliotakis, Energy Policy and Planning Expert, provided detailed insights into the analysis of economic sectors, the opportunities and pathways for low-carbon development, available financing options for achieving carbon neutrality, sector-specific low-carbon development targets, and the key measures required to advance this agenda.
Mr. Anvar Nasritdinov, Managing Director at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, delivered a presentation on the progress in developing a sectoral investment plan aimed at achieving the country's low-carbon development goals by 2055.
Specialists from the Ministry of Economy and Finance provided information on the draft regulatory legal act titled “On the Approval of the Strategy for Low-Carbon Development and Achieving Carbon Neutrality of the Republic of Uzbekistan by 2055,” currently being developed by the ministry.
At the conclusion of the event, participants received comprehensive responses from experts to their questions regarding the prospects for low-carbon development, and the next steps in this direction were jointly agreed upon.
