Sarvar Nazarov, Director of the Public Procurement Policy Department of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, participated as the head of the Uzbekistan delegation.
More than 10 countries and nearly 100 foreign and Korean specialists participated in the event.
On November 26, Sarvar Nazarov presented to the participants an overview of the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan to improve the public procurement system, digitalization processes, and future strategic plans. On the same day, meetings were also held in B2B and B2G formats.
Within the framework of the conference, a separate meeting was arranged between the Uzbekistan delegation and the Public Procurement Service (PPS) of the Republic of Korea.
During the meeting, the delegation provided information on measures taken in recent years in our country to improve the electronic public procurement system, ensure transparency, and enhance competition in the field of public procurement. The efforts to automate and deepen the analysis of public procurement processes through artificial intelligence, reduce corruption risks in procurement procedures, increase responsibility and accountability, and implement control mechanisms compliant with international standards were also emphasized.
At the conclusion of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to further expand cooperation on implementing artificial intelligence technologies in public procurement, digitizing the sector, training specialists, supporting local manufacturers, and introducing systematic anti-corruption mechanisms.
Additionally, the importance of developing a "roadmap" between the parties was noted. This document will further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of public procurement between the two countries and serve as a significant step in developing the public procurement system based on innovative technologies.
The parties expressed their readiness to consistently continue dialogue and exchange of experience.
For reference: The Republic of Korea has the world's most advanced electronic procurement system. Their KONEPS platform uses artificial intelligence to identify risks in tenders, filter out fraudulent proposals, and save billions in budget funds. The Public Procurement Service (PPS) of the Republic of Korea is considered one of the world's leading organizations in electronic procurement, automated monitoring of tenders, and innovative purchasing.
