An event dedicated to the launch of the "PAGE" program took place in Uzbekistan

The event gathered representatives from main stakeholders such as the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Embassy of Korea, the International Labour Organization, and the PAGE, where parties discussed targets set by the project and expected outcomes.
At the opening of the event, Umid Abidhadjayev, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Sabine Mahl, UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Anas Qarman, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP Uzbekistan delivered remarks and expressed positive views about the ongoing projects in the country aimed on shifting the economy towards green.
In his speech, Deputy Minister reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s strong commitment to combat against climate change and to pursue inclusive green economy. He also highlighted the need to use market mechanisms, particularly carbon pricing instruments, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the country.
Tim Scott, Senior Policy Advisor on Environmental Governance in UNDP HQ, recognized Uzbekistan as a regional leader in the field of green economy transition and promised to provide continuous support to the country in implementing green economy policies within the PAGE program.
At the conclusion of the event, participants emphasized that achieving success in implementation of this project requires effective coordination among stakeholders and alignment with national initiatives, and they agreed to take improve collaboration in this direction.
