The project foresees addressing pressing issues in 170 mahallas across 20 districts in Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Bukhara and Navoi regions. In particular, Stage 1 of the project provides for the construction of 111 new social facilities during 2024–2025. New general education schools, state preschool education organizations, family medical polyclinic, and Mahalla household services centers aimed at boosting local entrepreneurship are being established in the regions, improving living conditions for residents of remote mahallas.
The second stage of the project will include reconstruction, major repairs, and construction of additional buildings for social sector facilities; in total, 801 subprojects are planned under this phase. At present, construction works on most of the new facilities under Stage 1 have been completed, and infrastructure and engineering works under Stage 2 have already begun.
Specifically, in mahallas of Urgench, Khonqa and Khazorasp districts of Khorezm region, and in the Beruniy, Turtkul and Ellikqala districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, contractor organizations are carrying out works such as paving internal roads with asphalt, building sidewalks along roadways, installing street lighting, replacing electrical transformers, modernizing irrigation facilities, and erecting additional buildings for schools.
In Khorezm region alone, the project will build, completely renovate, and reconstruct 21 general education schools, 14 state preschool education organizations, 7 family medical clinics, 55 main and internal roads, 23 drinking water supply networks, 43 power supply systems, 14 irrigation and drainage facilities, 31 pedestrian walkways and street lighting systems, as well as 12 mahalla household services centers.
The installation of drinking water networks and the asphalting of roads are among the long-awaited changes for local residents. Improved electricity supply will undoubtedly ease hardships during the autumn–winter season. Likewise, renewed sidewalks and newly installed street lights help create a more convenient and safer environment for the population.
Irrigation system modernization works are also being implemented under the “Sustainable Rural Development Project”. These measures will increase the productivity of farmers and agricultural households and enable more efficient use of water resources.
The works carried out under the project serve the goals of comprehensive rural development in our country: creating decent living conditions for the population, increasing public satisfaction, and ensuring sustainable economic growth.
