Uzbekistan Wins Coursera “Outstanding Achievement Award 2025”

Uzbekistan participated for the first time in Coursera Connect 2025, held by Coursera Inc. in Nevada, United States, on September 8–10. The delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies Rustam Karimjonov. Participants were introduced to Coursera’s latest innovations, including “Role Play for Authors”, “Course Builder for Partners”, and “Skill Tracks for Enterprise”.
During the event, the Ministry of Digital Technologies and the IT Education Association were recognized as Global Finalists of the Outstanding Achievement Award 2025 in the “Learning Hero” category, marking Uzbekistan’s debut on this platform.
This recognition underscored the country’s growing influence in advancing digital education.
For information: Coursera’s Outstanding Achievement Award is presented to partner organizations and institutions that demonstrate strong effectiveness in online education. The award is based on criteria such as delivering knowledge to broad audiences, implementing innovative solutions, achieving measurable results for learners, fostering active community engagement, and upholding principles of inclusion and sustainability.
The Uzbek delegation also held a meeting with Coursera CEO Greg Hart, discussing initiatives such as the introduction of Coursera courses in educational institutions and government organizations, voice-over courses in Uzbek using artificial intelligence, and the possibility of organizing a Coursera event in Uzbekistan.
At the forum, attended by more than 350 partners including leading universities and international companies, Uzbekistan presented digital education opportunities for youth under the “Digital Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy, as well as achievements in IT exports.
It was noted that to date, more than 600,000 users have registered through the Uzbekcoders.uz platform as part of the “One Million Uzbek Programmers” project. In 2023 alone, 230,000 young people received IT certificates, while in the first half of 2025 almost 400,000 young people completed Coursera courses free of charge and were awarded certificates.
