Ambassador Toivo Klaar commended Uzbekistan's ongoing reforms and achievements across various sectors, particularly in digital technologies, highlighting their positive impact on improving living standards.
Minister Sherzod Shermatov emphasized that one of the ministry's key priorities is to create high-quality job opportunities for the younger generation, enabling them to earn competitive incomes without leaving the country.
Given Uzbekistan's landlocked geography, special attention is being placed on accelerating the growth of the information and communication technologies (ICT) sector to boost IT service exports. The discussion included initiatives supporting this goal, notably the One Million Uzbek Coders project.
The minister also underscored the importance of expanding cooperation with European countries, considering the specific characteristics of the EU market.
In addition, both sides explored prospects for cooperation in the field of telecommunications, in particular joint projects to expand high-speed Internet access in remote areas using modern satellite communications technologies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening digital cooperation and expressed hope for the successful implementation of joint projects in the near future.
