The most significant ICT event in Uzbekistan, known as "ICTWEEK UZBEKISTAN - 2023," is currently underway. Over the past 19 years, this event has consistently brought together various specialized events under one unified format.
ICTWEEK primarily aims to establish a platform for the exchange of knowledge and showcase the cutting-edge advancements in modern technology and innovations. It also serves as an excellent occasion to discuss the appeal of Uzbekistan's IT market to foreign investors.
Furthermore, the event is planned to be hosted at three primary locations within the city of Tashkent:
- The versatile exhibition center known as "CAEx (Central Asian Expo Uzbekistan)."
- The IT Park complex situated in the Mirzo Ulugbek district.
- The National Library of Uzbekistan, named after Alisher Navoi.
During the initial day of the forum, scheduled for October 24, there will be a Startup Summit with the objective of acquainting attendees with the Uzbek startup environment, showcasing the top startups, investors, and innovative firms in the region. As part of this event, presentations by foreign experts will be arranged. The forum will conclude with B2B meetings between international venture funds and local startups, fostering a conducive environment for prospective investments and collaboration.
The official commencement of "ICTWEEK UZBEKISTAN - 2023" is planned for the event's second day, which falls on October 25. Following introductory remarks and speeches by representatives of international organizations, the program proceeds with official announcements and presentations. These presentations cover a range of topics, including the introduction of artificial intelligence named "Mukhlisa" during ICT Week, the unveiling of the updated my.gov.uz website, discussions on the possibilities and potential of the MyID ecosystem, the Aloqa Bank student card, the Face ID payment system, a presentation on the "Uzbektelecom IPO," Huawei's presentation on "IT education" in Uzbekistan, focusing on corporate social responsibility, and an introduction to a new startup development ecosystem in Uzbekistan by the manager of Plug and Play (USA), among others.
During this day, two significant events are scheduled: the "Empowering Women in IT: Leading the Digital Revolution" summit, which seeks to foster collaboration between "Techno Women Kazakhstan" and the IT Education Association, and the "Central Asia IPv6 Enhanced" summit.
On the third day of ICTWEEK, attention will be drawn to the inauguration of the "Uzbekistan Outsourcing" forum and the ICT EXPO - 2023 exhibition, both featuring contributions from foreign experts.
On October 26, a significant event of the day will be the Uzbekistan-Korea ICT Business Partnership Forum, organized by IT Park in collaboration with Korean entities such as KOICA, NIPA, UNIDO Korea, and KOIIA. This forum will be attended by over 20 Korean IT companies and provides local IT firms with the chance to establish agreements and initiate fresh projects in partnership with Korean counterparts.
Another prominent event will take place at the National Library Hall - the IT Education Forum, featuring presentations by accomplished figures in the field of IT. This event will also encompass three competitions: the ICPC, the "President Tech Award" hackathon, and the award ceremony for the TOP-5 young talent competition. Simultaneously, the World Bank will host a forum addressing the topic "How to achieve success in the e-commerce market in Uzbekistan."
On October 27, which marks the final day of ICT Week, a forum dedicated to exploring investment and public-private partnership opportunities in Uzbekistan's IT sector is on the agenda. Additionally, B2B sessions between ministries and organizations are scheduled for this day.
On this particular day, attendees have the opportunity to explore the job and education fair as part of the ICT Expo. The concluding segment of "ICTWEEK UZBEKISTAN - 2023" will culminate with cultural activities and the recognition of ICT Week award recipients.
The forthcoming ICT week will represent a significant stride toward accomplishing the 100 objectives outlined in the "Uzbekistan 2030" strategy.
As part of Goal 33, an IT education forum is being conducted within the week for the very first time, aiming to enhance the appeal of the IT sector among young individuals. This initiative is expected to contribute to achieving our target of enabling 300,000 young people to secure well-paying jobs in the IT industry by 2030.
For Goal 57, the country is hosting a special "Uzbekistan Outsourcing" forum, with invitations extended to hundreds of foreign guests, overseas site selectors, and representatives of foreign economic associations (Mass Media). Their firsthand assessment of the conditions in our country will contribute to attracting a greater influx of IT outsourcing companies and assisting in achieving the annual export goal of $5 billion by 2030.
Objective 77, the "Digital Government for the People" Summit, presents an opportunity for international experts and officials to become familiar with the roadmap for digitizing public services. The aim is to achieve a position among the top 30 nations offering cutting-edge digital services to both citizens and entrepreneurs by 2030.
Naturally, several additional activities, such as the ICT exhibition, will facilitate the exploration of fresh avenues for collaboration within the realm of digitization.
We extend a warm invitation to all to join us for the official launch of the exhibition, set to take place on October 25 at 10:00.
Location: "CAEx" (Central Asian Expo Uzbekistan), Tashkent City, National Park Street, No. 1 (Next to Central Asian University).
The ICTEXPO exhibition is set to witness the participation of over 100 significant IT companies, both from the local and international sectors. Notable foreign companies like Plug and Play, Nokia, ZTE, Huawei, Innotech, Yandex, and IT Park residents will be among the exhibitors. Additionally, domestic information technology firms, including Uzbektelecom, UZINFOCOM, and UNICON, will be showcasing their latest innovative software products during the event.
