The conference focused on how artificial intelligence, social media platforms, short-form video content, and modern digital marketing tools are transforming approaches to promoting tourism destinations and enabling businesses to engage more effectively with international audiences.
In his address, Oleg Pekos emphasizes the symbolic significance of the name “Digital Silk Road.” For centuries, Uzbekistan has been located at the heart of the Great Silk Road, connecting East and West. Today, however, travelers’ first impressions of the country are increasingly shaped in the digital environment through online content, recommendations, and interactions.
Particular attention was given to the role of artificial intelligence in tourism. Modern AI tools make it possible to better understand audience interests, tailor content to different markets, improve the effectiveness of promotional activities, and streamline engagement with potential tourists.
Oleg Pekos noted that technology alone is not sufficient to increase tourist flows and that the development of digital skills among tourism industry professionals is equally important. Effective use of modern digital tools can help Uzbek companies enter new markets and present the country’s tourism potential to international audiences more effectively.
The “Digital Silk Road” conference marked another step toward strengthening cooperation between government institutions and international technology companies in the practical application of artificial intelligence and digital platforms across various sectors of the economy.
