Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov attended the half-yearly regional meeting for the Middle East and Central Asia in Tashkent, where over 20 heads and managers from Huawei's regional offices gathered.
During the meeting, the Minister welcomed the decision to hold the annual meeting in Uzbekistan, highlighting the country's rapid digital development, the creation of favorable business conditions for international IT companies, and the strengthening of Uzbekistan's brand as a regional leader in hosting major international events in the ICT sector.
"Considering the 25-year history of cooperation with Uzbekistan, I am pleased to welcome Huawei's regional leaders in Tashkent this year. The company's contribution to the development of the ICT sector, digital transformation and personnel training is of great importance for the implementation of our Digital Uzbekistan 2030 strategy and the transformation of Uzbekistan into a regional IT hub. In the republic, all conditions have been created to develop the business of international IT companies, to support the company's activities, to place their Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) offices around the world, and to hold regional and global events," said Sherzod Shermatov.
Huawei executives were briefed on the current "Zero Risk" program for residents of IT Park Uzbekistan, the benefits provided to IT Park residents for their operations in Uzbekistan, and the plans to attract international business to the country. Discussions also covered the development of projects in the Middle East and Central Asia region and the expansion of one of Huawei's five Global Resource Centers operating in Uzbekistan. It was noted that these efforts would enhance the export of IT services from Uzbekistan and strengthen the country's position as a center for IT industry development in the region.
As a reminder, Huawei has been operating in Uzbekistan for 25 years, implementing key projects to strengthen ICT infrastructure, introduce green technologies in the energy sector, and support local talents.
In August, with the support of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, the "Seeds for the Future 2024" education project will be held in Tashkent for the first time, bringing together more than 150 students from countries in the Middle East and Central Asia.
