In this context, global competitiveness will increasingly depend on the ability of countries to provide investors with affordable, reliable and environmentally sustainable energy solutions.
Uzbekistan has taken proactive measures in this direction. In cooperation with leading international companies, large-scale wind and solar power plants with a total capacity of 5.6 gigawatts have been commissioned, increasing the share of renewable energy in total generation to 30 percent. By 2030, this figure is expected to reach 54 percent.
The President of Uzbekistan emphasized that the region possesses substantial potential for renewable energy generation. Particular note was made of the support provided by the Asian Development Bank in advancing the Central Asia–Europe “green” energy corridor, aimed at expanding exports of clean energy.
It was further stated that, in close cooperation with the Asian Development Bank, countries of the region are expected to accelerate the implementation of this strategic “energy artery” project in the near future.
