On April 23, the Ministry of Digital Technologies held a meeting with women working in the sector on the occasion of the International Girls in ICT Day.

The event was conducted in an open dialogue format, providing participants with the opportunity to directly present their ideas, initiatives and proposals. Discussions focused on expanding women’s participation in the sector, strengthening support mechanisms and creating new opportunities.
The Minister noted that the role of women in the country’s digital transformation processes continues to grow, emphasizing the importance of developing not only communication skills but also advanced technological expertise. Increasing the number of women specialists with academic degrees and promoting their involvement in modern IT fields were identified among the priority tasks.
It was also highlighted that, as a result of consistent reforms implemented under the leadership of the Head of State, the share of women in the technology sector has been steadily increasing. Opportunities for women across all sectors, including ICT, are continuing to expand.
According to statistics, over the past six years, the number of women studying in ICT fields has increased fivefold. By comparison, the overall growth rate stood at 4.4 times, while the growth dynamics among female students were even higher. As a result, the share of women among ICT students has risen from 19 percent to 23 percent.
Young women demonstrating high potential in the field are increasingly gaining international experience and receiving prestigious awards. In particular, laureates of the Zulfiya State Prize were noted for their achievements in IT and their active participation in innovative projects.
This positive trend reflects both the ongoing digitalization of the economy and the impact of state policies aimed at supporting women. Initiatives implemented within the GAP Women’s IT Club, along with expanded opportunities in the regions, were highlighted as key contributing factors.
The meeting concluded with a shared understanding of the need to consolidate efforts among all stakeholders to further increase the share of women in the technology sector.
