Uzbekistan and 4iG explore expanded Cooperation to Advance Digital Infrastructure Development

Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held talks in Tashkent with Robert H. Nagy, Vice President and Director of Space at 4iG Space and Defence Technologies Plc. of Hungary, within the framework of the international conference “Space Technology Conference STC-2026”.
Discussions focused on advancing the national IT sector, including the establishment of data centers, the attraction of international investment, and the expansion of digital service exports. Particular attention was given to Uzbekistan’s strategic geographic position and the improving business climate, which were highlighted as key factors supporting the deployment of large-scale data infrastructure.
Amid rising demand for secure data storage driven by geopolitical uncertainties, including in the Middle East, both sides examined opportunities to position Uzbekistan as a regional data hub.
Additional topics included the expansion of remote employment formats, the development of a skilled talent pool, and the strengthening of outsourcing capabilities for international companies operating in global markets.
The Uzbek side also outlined ongoing efforts to foster a dynamic startup ecosystem and attract foreign venture capital to support innovation-driven growth.
The meeting concluded with both parties acknowledging Uzbekistan’s strong potential in the IT and digital services sector and expressing mutual interest in deepening cooperation aimed at establishing the country as a regional IT and data hub.
