Minister Shermatov Meets with Uzbek Startup Founders in Tokyo

The Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, met with Uzbek information technology specialists and startup founders in Tokyo to discuss the development of Uzbekistan's digital economy and cooperation with the diaspora. He provided an overview of the country's startup ecosystem, highlighting growth in investment, international acceleration programs and efforts to strengthen the country's global technological standing.
Abdulahad Kuchkarov, CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, outlined current tax incentives, support measures, and "soft landing" mechanisms for companies looking to establish business and engineering teams in Uzbekistan.
More than 20 specialists from leading international firms and technological projects in Japan attended the event. Discussions focused on Japanese market entry, investment attraction, and potential collaboration models.
Representatives from "UPJ — Uzbek Professionals of Japan" participated in the meeting.
Participants noted recent developments in the Uzbek startup sector and expressed readiness to strengthen technological and innovative ties between the two nations.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain systematic dialogue and develop mechanisms to integrate the expertise and international contacts of the diaspora into the development of Uzbekistan's digital economy.
