On October 30, 2026, Nozimjon Kholmurodov, Director of the Light Industry Development Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with Youni Jaaskelainen, CEO of Finland’s EPSE Oy.
The meeting focused on the efficient use of water resources in light industry enterprises, wastewater treatment using modern technologies, and ensuring environmental sustainability.
EPSE Oy is a Finnish company specializing in the treatment of industrial wastewater, particularly wastewater containing dissolved metals. Its technologies have been successfully implemented in countries such as South Africa, Zambia, and Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities to use the company’s water treatment reagent to treat and reuse wastewater generated during leather processing, fabric dyeing, and finishing processes.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to send wastewater samples from three leather-processing enterprises and three fabric-dyeing enterprises in Uzbekistan to Finland for laboratory testing. If the test results are positive, they plan to explore an investment project for the joint production of the water treatment reagent in Uzbekistan.
