On October 29 of this year, Nozimjon Kholmurodov, Director of the Light Industry Development Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Muhammad Monirul Islam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan.
The meeting focused on developing trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh, increasing bilateral trade, attracting investment, and implementing joint projects in the textile and garment industries.
Particular attention was paid to making effective use of the production capacities of both countries, expanding the production and supply of finished garment products, and exploring opportunities to establish joint ventures in Uzbekistan specializing in the manufacture of high-value-added products.
The parties also discussed Bangladesh's experience in developing its export-oriented garment industry and integrating it into international supply chains.
According to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), the country’s ready-made garment exports reached USD 38.7 billion in the 2025/2026 fiscal year, accounting for more than 80% of its total merchandise exports.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the importance of integrating Uzbek textile enterprises into the global supply chains of international brands and major buyers, introducing international standards, increasing export orders, and expanding opportunities for domestic products to enter new foreign markets was emphasized.
