As part of the official visit of the delegation of the Light Industry Development Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of South Africa, the Agency's Deputy Director Rukhullo Zikrillayev held a meeting with Iqbal Ebrahim, Chief Executive Officer of MSR (National Fabrics).
Operating under the National Fabrics name and also known by the Moosa's Sales Room brand, MSR is one of South Africa's leading wholesale textile companies with more than 65 years of experience. The company specializes in the wholesale supply of fabrics for the production of garments and other textile products.
During the negotiations, the company's management expressed interest in importing competitively priced textile products from Uzbekistan with strong year-round market demand. Particular attention was given to mass-market products that could be offered to South African consumers at affordable prices.
Following the meeting, the parties reached an agreement to establish direct cooperation between MSR and Uzbek manufacturers of home textiles and finished textile products. Uzbekistan will provide the company with product catalogues, samples, technical specifications, and export price quotations.
The parties also agreed to begin work on developing a product portfolio of year-round items tailored to the requirements of the South African market, while jointly addressing logistics, delivery terms, and payment arrangements.
After reviewing the submitted materials and product samples, MSR will identify the most competitive product lines and consider placing commercial orders.
The agreements reached provide a solid foundation for Uzbek manufacturers to enter South Africa's wholesale textile market, expand export opportunities, and build long-term trade cooperation.
