Expansion of Cooperation Between Uzbekistan and LuLu Group Discussed

On 11 July 2026, as part of the official visit of the delegation of the Light Industry Development Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of South Africa, a meeting was held between Ruxullo Zikrillayev, Deputy Director of the Agency, and M. A. Yusuff Ali, Founder and Chairman of LuLu Group.
For reference: LuLu Group is one of the largest retail chains in the Gulf region, operating in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain. The Group operates more than 267 hypermarkets and supermarkets and is engaged in retail, international sourcing and procurement, private label manufacturing, and e-commerce. In addition to food products, the company is one of the region's leading retailers of textiles and ready-made garments, home textiles, footwear, household appliances, and homeware. LuLu Group's annual turnover is approximately USD 7.9 billion.
During the meeting, the parties held comprehensive discussions on expanding the presence of high-quality textile products manufactured in Uzbekistan through LuLu Group's retail network across the Gulf countries. It was agreed to initially introduce products in the premium segment, followed by a gradual expansion of the assortment of high value-added textile products.
The parties also discussed the establishment of a LuLu Pop-Up Store by an Uzbek company within the shopping complex adjacent to LuLu Group's headquarters, improving logistics operations, and marketing home textiles, towels, T-shirts, and other finished textile products through the company's international retail network.
At the conclusion of the negotiations, the parties agreed to develop the design of the retail space based on the range of products offered by Uzbek manufacturers and to establish a 100-square-meter "Made in Uzbekistan" retail corner.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to further expand Uzbekistan's export potential in the Gulf region, promote products of Uzbek manufacturers across LuLu Group's retail network, and strengthen long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation.
