On June 18, 2026, a meeting was held at the Light Industry Development Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan with Jeffrey Grieco, Founder and Director of the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of Uzbekistan’s light and textile industries, ongoing sectoral reforms, measures to further improve the investment climate, and the development of high value-added production.
One of the key topics of discussion was the professional training and skills development of Afghan citizens at Uzbekistan’s textile and garment manufacturing enterprises.
The parties emphasized that this initiative would contribute to the development of workforce skills, the introduction of modern production technologies, and the strengthening of regional economic cooperation.
The meeting also addressed opportunities to involve Afghan specialists and workers in Uzbekistan’s modern manufacturing processes, organize industry-specific educational programs, and implement joint projects in the future.
Jeffrey Grieco highly praised Uzbekistan’s achievements in developing its textile industry and noted that the country’s experience could serve as an important example for Afghanistan.
