Meetings aimed at strengthening international cooperation were held within the framework of SPIEF 2026

On June 4, 2026, within the framework of the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2026), First Deputy Director of the Agency for the Development of Light Industry under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Mukhammadsaidov, held a series of international meetings.
In particular, during a meeting with Luiz Rua, Minister of Agriculture of the Federative Republic of Brazil, the parties discussed opportunities for the use of Brazilian cotton in Uzbekistan’s textile industry, as well as prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation. At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Luiz Rua was invited to visit Uzbekistan.
During negotiations with Walid Ali Almalki, Vice President of the Saudi company “Walmalki”, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in installing solar panels at textile enterprises in Uzbekistan. The company representative expressed interest in visiting Uzbekistan in August this year.
At a meeting with Dr. Nkundwe Moses Mwasaga, Chief Executive Officer of Tanzania’s “ICT” company, opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the production and export of finished textile products for African markets were discussed.
During negotiations with representatives of Iran’s “RUNEXT” company, the parties exchanged views on establishing mutually beneficial cooperation and implementing joint projects.
At a meeting with Dinar Shakirzyanov, President of the Hemp Producers Association of the Republic of Tatarstan, the parties discussed cooperation in the cultivation and processing of hemp raw materials.
Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached to establish cooperation in the supply of hemp raw materials and their processing in partnership with Uzbekistan’s “Navbahor Textile” enterprise. In addition, Dinar Shakirzyanov expressed his intention to participate in the international textile exhibition to be held in Uzbekistan in October this year.
The meetings held will contribute to attracting investment into the light industry sector, expanding international cooperation, and implementing new promising projects.
