On May 14 of this year, a meeting was held between Nozimjon Xolmurodov, Director of the Light Industry Development Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and members of the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMA).
During the meeting, the parties discussed:
- establishing the Sialkot Special Textile and Leather Industrial Zone in Uzbekistan;
- attracting Pakistani manufacturers to this industrial zone;
- organizing business missions between the two countries and other promising areas of cooperation.
For reference: The Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMA), established in 1960, is the only government-recognized representative organization in Pakistan. Today, the association unites more than 3,000 members.
The dialogue also focused on implementing promising joint projects in Uzbekistan and increasing the volume of bilateral trade turnover.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a memorandum and a roadmap aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
