Strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in the leather and footwear industry is reaching a new stage.

An important meeting was held between Nozimjon Xolmurodov, Director of the Light Industry Development Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and representatives of the leather and footwear industry of Dongguan City, People’s Republic of China.
During the meeting, the parties discussed:
-attracting advanced technologies to the leather and footwear industry;
-expanding international cooperation;
-increasing export potential;
-training highly qualified specialists;
-introducing modern design and innovative solutions.
The parties also put forward a proposal to establish a modern leather and footwear cluster in Uzbekistan covering all stages of production — from raw materials to finished products.
Representatives of China’s leather and footwear industry highly appreciated the favorable investment climate created in Uzbekistan and the government support provided to the sector, expressing readiness to further strengthen technological cooperation.
This dialogue became an important step toward implementing joint investment and export-oriented projects in the leather and footwear industry between the two countries.
