Uzbekistan and Finland to Establish “Green Zone” Industrial Center for Waste Recycling

On October 31, a Uzbekistan–Finland Business Forum was held in Tashkent as part of the official visit of Finnish President Alexander Stubb to Uzbekistan.
Following the talks between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb, a Joint Declaration and several cooperation documents were signed across various fields.
Among them was a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Finnish company “EPSE Oy.”
The memorandum outlines a series of measures aimed at cooperation in establishing the “Green Zone” industrial center for waste recycling in Uzbekistan.
In particular, it provides for:

Developing and implementing technologies for waste recycling and value recovery within the republic;

Creating industrial facilities and innovation hubs focused on turning waste into a key component of the economy;

Exploring and implementing mutually beneficial cooperation models based on advanced technologies, knowledge, and expertise shared between the two sides.
