Construction of a Waste Incineration Plant Launched in Samarkand

At present, the construction of a waste incineration plant has officially begun in a 15-hectare area located in the “Navruz” Mahalla, “Khushrav” settlement of Samarkand city, where the foundation stone has been laid.
Earlier, an agreement on the supply of waste for processing and energy generation projects was signed between Sharifbek Hasanov, Director of the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development under the Ministry of Ecology, and Long Ji Sheng, Head of the leading Chinese environmental company “Shanghai SUS Environment” LLC.
During the event, Director Sharifbek Hasanov emphasized that
“These projects serve important goals such as protecting the environment, reducing the volume of waste disposed of in landfills, promoting the use of renewable energy sources, and ensuring environmental sustainability.”
The opening ceremony was attended by initiating investors, the regional governor, representatives of the regional departments of Ecology and Waste Management, sectoral authorities, mahalla organizations, sanitary cleaning enterprises, and the general public.
In Samarkand region, “Shanghai SUS Environment” LLC is implementing an investment project worth USD 150 million. The plant will process 1,500 tons of waste per day, generating 240 million kWh of electricity annually. The project is also significant for creating 150–200 new jobs. The investor plans to complete and launch the project during 2025–2027.
