From September 10 to 15 of this year, an eco-camp dedicated to improving environmental literacy and culture among young people was actively held at the International Chess School in Qiziltepa District, Navoi Region. The event was organized in cooperation between the Youth Affairs Agency and the Waste Management and Circular Economy Development Agency.
More than 150 eco-active young participants, along with staff from the regional offices of the Waste Management Agency, took part in the camp. In addition, representatives of the Korea International Development Cooperation Center (KIDC), the Ekolog public association, and its volunteers from Korea also joined the event.
During the training sessions, participants studied pressing environmental topics such as climate change, drinking water issues, the development and implementation of environmental projects, the protection of flora and fauna, waste sorting and recycling, as well as the environmental impact of plastic waste and ways to reduce it.
Within the framework of the camp, an online environmental quiz “Eco Quiz” and the intellectual game “Eco Zakovat” were held. The competitions tested participants’ environmental knowledge and sparked lively discussions. The winning teams were identified and awarded.
On the same day, a plogging eco-action titled “Towards a Green Future” was organized along the shores of Tudakul. A total of 150 participants, divided into five teams, collected about 800 kilograms of waste left behind by vacationers, making a valuable contribution to environmental cleanliness. The collected waste was transported and properly disposed of using special equipment.
In addition, the camp featured the screening of the Uzbek national animated film “Green Space”, produced by the Youth Affairs Agency and Global Animation Studio, as well as the short film “Sho’rxok”, focusing on the Aral Sea issue. The presentation of the project www.batareykalar.uz was also held.
Furthermore, volunteers from the Republic of Korea shared their experiences and conducted a practical session on recycling plastic bottle caps.
