Currently, 27 solid waste landfills are operating in the Andijan, Namangan, and Fergana regions. These landfills receive an average of 3,500–4,000 tons of household waste per day and dispose of it in the prescribed manner.
In order to improve the sanitary condition of landfills and waste disposal in accordance with requirements, waste is being moved and compacted, and new work areas are being created.
As a result, 1.1 hectares of land were prepared in the Andijan region, 16.8 hectares in the Fergana region, and 19.3 hectares in the Namangan region.
Additionally, to improve the internal and external roads of landfills and ensure the safe movement of vehicles, 1,400 meters of roads were leveled and paved in the Andijan region, 700 meters in the Fergana region, and 400 meters in the Namangan region.
To ensure compliance with sanitary requirements at landfills, 21 disinfection, disinsection, and deratization operations were carried out in the Andijan, Namangan, and Fergana regions this year.
Soil reserves have also been formed at the landfills to prevent fires and take prompt measures in the event of them. Specifically, soil reserves of 1,910 m3 were created in the Andijan region, 1,500 m3 in the Fergana region, and 1,800 m3 in the Namangan region.
The fires that occurred at the landfills were cleared using special equipment, covered with soil, compacted, and leveled.
Special attention is also paid to creating safe and comfortable working conditions for employees. In particular, employees are provided with special workwear and personal protective equipment. Work is underway to repair and landscape existing utility rooms, and to create the necessary conditions for compliance with sanitary and hygienic requirements.
In addition, measures are being taken to disinfect and wash vehicles serving landfills after handling waste, as well as to prevent the removal of waste, soil, and other pollutants from the landfill area.
The landfills are equipped with modern scales, video surveillance cameras, solar panels, water supply and other necessary infrastructure.
Consistent work continues to improve the environmental condition of landfills and to gradually eliminate existing problems.
