To ensure the implementation of these tasks, a total of 14 waste transfer stations are planned to be built across the regions. In particular, two stations each are planned in Andijan, Tashkent, and Fergana regions, and one station each in Bukhara, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Namangan, Navoi, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, and Khorezm regions.
At present, construction of these facilities is being carried out in stages. In particular, construction works in Andijan, Namangan, Fergana, and Surkhandarya regions are nearly complete, with final-stage works currently underway.
For reference:
A waste transfer station is a modern infrastructure facility designed for the collection and reloading of household waste delivered by sanitation enterprises. At these stations, waste is compacted using special equipment, placed into large-capacity containers, and sent to recycling or disposal facilities, including waste-to-energy plants.
The introduction of this system will help to:
- reduce transportation costs for sanitation enterprises;
- decrease the load on waste landfills;
- improve the efficiency of waste recycling and disposal.
