The Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) funded by the European Union, organized a seminar-training in Jizzakh region on the topic “The Importance of Personal Protective Equipment and Its Proper Use When Working with Pesticides and Other Hazardous Chemicals.”
The seminar-training was held within the framework of the FAO project “Technical Assistance for the Effective Management of Hazardous Chemicals,” financed by the European Union. Employees of the regional “Specialized Landfill for Toxic Chemical and Other Hazardous Substances,” as well as staff of the territorial division for ecology and climate change, took part in the event.
During the training, participants were provided with detailed information on toxicological groups of pesticides, types registered in the republic, pathways of their entry into the human body and their impact on health, types of personal protective equipment and rules for their proper use, types of poisoning, and first aid measures.
In addition, practical demonstrations were conducted for each element of personal protective equipment, showing the correct procedures for putting on and removing protective gear, as well as cleaning and maintenance practices.
At the conclusion of the event, as part of the project, sets of personal protective equipment—including respirators, filters, special footwear, gloves, helmets, protective goggles, and coveralls—were provided to the employees of the specialized landfill as free assistance.
