Today, on December 1, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The meeting comprehensively addressed issues of environmental sustainability, including waste processing, and heard reports from responsible officials.
In particular, it was noted that projects worth 933 million USD have been launched in six regions — Andijan, Namangan, Fergana, Samarkand, Kashkadarya, and Tashkent — aimed at generating electricity from municipal waste. However, in other regions, no significant actions in this direction have been observed.
It was also noted that even within the initiated projects, work on providing investors with the necessary infrastructure — roads, electricity, and water supply — is being carried out insufficiently.
Regional hokimiyats and the National Committee for Ecology were instructed to eliminate the existing shortcomings and to launch similar projects in the remaining regions next year.
