As part of the 20th meeting of CITES CoP20 — the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora — being held in Samarkand, guests of the event are being given a detailed presentation of the region’s environmental potential.
In particular, the Executive Secretary of the BRS Conventions (Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm) at the UN, Dr. Rolph Payet, and the Director of the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development, Sharifbek Hasanov, visited the Sharof Rashidov Samarkand State University.
During the visit, the high-ranking guest was introduced to the university’s educational programs, the conditions created for student learning, as well as the fundamental and applied scientific research conducted in cooperation with international programs of developed countries.
In addition, an exchange of views took place on ongoing efforts to preserve the wild flora and fauna of Central Asia, protect rare species, and implement regional environmental initiatives.
