A new scientific, educational, and tourist complex marks the start of a new stage in the development of Fergana

On this historic occasion, the Head of State, sincerely congratulating the residents of Fergana, emphasized that the complex will play an important role not only in the life of Margilan but also across the entire Fergana Valley.

As noted, the program for the region’s socio-economic development through 2030 has been implemented consistently in recent years. The airport in Kokand has been restored, while modern industrial enterprises, educational, healthcare, and cultural facilities, IT parks, and New Uzbekistan residential areas are being built in Margilan and other cities and districts.

These measures are intended to create favorable conditions for work and life, protect the interests, honor, and dignity of individuals, and bring the spirit of the “New Uzbekistan” to the regions.

The President emphasized that in recent years, Fergana region has hosted major forums not only at the national level but also at the international level. It has become a tradition to hold the Kokand International Festival of Handicrafts and the pottery festival in Rishtan. In Fergana, forums on regional cooperation among Central Asian countries are successfully held.

In recent years, large tourist complexes have been built using national architectural solutions that blend historical and modern traditions. In Samarkand, the Silk Road Samarkand and Imam Bukhari Complex were opened, while in Khorezm, the international tourist center Arda Khiva was established. A major step in this direction was the opening of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent.

It was noted that the history of Fergana region holds a special place in the center’s exhibition. One of the center’s four major portals is named after Kokand and provides detailed coverage of the activities of our great ancestors from the First Renaissance era, Ahmad Fergani and Burhanuddin Marginoni.

The development of tourism infrastructure is showing results. In the first quarter of the current year, about 3 million tourists visited Uzbekistan, and tourism exports exceeded $1.1 billion.

The Head of State also highlighted the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Fergana. It was noted that poets and writers such as Uvaysi, Nodira, Anbar Otin, Dilshod Barno, Gulkhani, Muqimi, Furqat, Zavqi, Charkhi, Sobir Abdulla, as well as scholars and cultural figures such as Aziz Qayumov, Erkin Vokhidov, Khudoyberdi Tokhtaboyev, Umarali Normatov, Enakhon Siddiqova, and Anvar Obidjon made a tremendous contribution to the spiritual heritage of our people.

It was emphasized that outstanding artists, including Yusufjon Qiziq Shakarjonov, Usta Olim Komilov, Mukhiddin Kariyakubov, Tamara Khanum, Halima Nosirova, Mukarrama Turgunbayeva, Jurahon Sultonov, and Mamurjon Uzoqov, made an invaluable contribution to the development of Uzbek art and culture.

The President stated that extensive work is planned to duly honor the talent and merits of masters of the arts and to pass on their creative heritage to future generations. Schools named after Sherali Jurayev and Farrukh Zakirov have been established. In the future, schools for Fergana’s master artists will also be opened.

The Head of State emphasized that the opening of the Burhonuddin Marginoni Complex, a scientific, educational, and tourist complex, marks the beginning of a new period.

The unique complex, built based on national architectural traditions and covering 35 hectares, includes the Institute of Islamic Jurisprudence, a maqom theater, an open-air amphitheater, a local history museum, an alley of writers and artists, a craftsmen’s center, hotels, and service facilities.

The complex will contribute to the study and promotion of Burhanuddin Marginoni’s rich scientific heritage, the preservation of the region’s ancient craft traditions, and the development of pilgrimage tourism.

The President expressed confidence that this majestic structure will hold a worthy place among the unique landmarks of New Uzbekistan and become one of Fergana region’s hallmarks.

“There is profound historical and personal meaning in the fact that we built this complex in Margilan. This blessed city has nurtured many figures of science and enlightenment. According to historical sources, this fertile land was known as the ‘homeland of enlighteners’”.

“Relying on such a vast spiritual heritage, we will write new chapters in the glorious history of Margilan and the entire Fergana. We have every right to be proud of this and to admire it”, the President said.

The Head of State expressed sincere gratitude to the scholars, designers, engineers, builders, workers, and employees, as well as to all who contributed to this noble endeavor.

The ceremony continued with a large concert program. Performances by folklore and ethnographic ensembles and artists, along with traditional games and askiya, created a joyful atmosphere for all.
