The main goal of the seminar-workshop was to introduce participants to the new financing mechanism used by the World Bank—the "Program for Results"—aimed at supporting the financing of State programs.
More than 40 responsible specialists from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Transport, and the Accounts Chamber participated in the seminar.
The seminar was opened by Indu John-Abraham, the World Bank’s Operations Manager for Central Asia, and Ilkhomjon Umrzakov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance.
On the first day of the event, the content and essence of the "Program for Results" were discussed, including how it differs from traditional financing methods. International experience was shared through examples from China, Morocco, and Serbia.
Presentations were delivered by World Bank experts led by Kai-Alexander Kaiser, and they thoroughly answered questions raised by the participants.
On the second day of the seminar, lively discussions and Q&A continued. Among the topics discussed were the programs currently being implemented in Uzbekistan under the "Program for Results," evaluation criteria (technical evaluation, assessing reliable financial management systems, environmental and social systems), and the expected outcomes.
Participants also discussed the possibility of financing projects in the healthcare, agriculture, and energy sectors of Uzbekistan under the "Program for Results".
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to further strengthen cooperation on financing ongoing and future development programs.
