A discussion was held with representatives of the Asian Development Bank on the development of the Emission Trading System in Uzbekistan

For information: Emission Trading System (ETS) Emissions trading is a market-oriented approach to controlling pollution by providing economic incentives for reducing the emissions of pollutants, and is currently implemented in 36 countries.
Melanie Hobson, Robert Boyce and Fernando Antolin, consultants, Nizomiddin Rakhmanov, Climate Change Officer, and Begzod Djalilov, Regional Cooperation Specialist of the ADB, and representatives of the Ministry's Green Economy Development Department participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of establishing a emission trading system in Uzbekistan based on international best practices, as well as taking measures to introduce this system in order to encourage to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the republic.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a legal framework for the implementation of the emission trading system and to expand cooperation in this field.
