A meeting with representatives of the National Payments Corporation of India was held

The meeting on the foreign side was attended by Ambassador of India to Uzbekistan Smita Pant, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NPCI Dilip Asbe, as well as Head of Business Development in Eastern Europe and Central Asia Chinar Deshpande.
On the Uzbek side, First Deputy Director of the National Agency for Prospective Projects Vyacheslav Pak, First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Nodirbek Saydullayev, Deputy Chairman of the NBU Board Bakhtiyor Mirdovidov and other responsible persons were present.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the possibilities of introducing Unified Payments Interface (UPI) as a payment method for Indian tourists visiting Uzbekistan.
For information: Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is an electronic payment system in India developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It allows users to make instant transactions through mobile devices. UPI integrates various banking services into one application, allowing users to send and receive money, pay bills and make purchases using a unique identifier known as UPI ID.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in further cooperation and agreed on the need to develop a joint action plan for the implementation of the proposed initiatives.
