The meeting was attended by Special Senior Advisor to the ADB President's Office Warren Evans, climate change expert Kathleen Ann, Head of ADB Resident Mission Operations in Uzbekistan Mirzo Iskandar Gulamov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Jasur Karshibaev and other responsible representatives.
During the dialogue, the parties discussed the changes taking place in the energy sector of our country, issues of increasing energy efficiency, mitigating the effects of climate change, developing the carbon market, efficient use of water resources and developing irrigation systems, and improving water heating systems based on modern requirements.
During the conversation, the parties also exchanged views on the ongoing reforms to transition to a green economy, the master plans being formed for regional development, the development of small and medium-sized businesses, the processes of transforming enterprises and banks with state participation, the use of best practices in these areas and cooperation with international financial organizations.
At the same time, within the framework of the meeting, debt agreements were signed with the Asian Development Bank within the framework of the programs “Development of the Energy Sector” and “Development of Financial Markets”.
For reference: the purpose of these programs is to implement reforms aimed at developing the energy sector, strengthening the regulatory framework, increasing financial sustainability, reducing carbon intensity, increasing demand for energy efficiency, as well as developing the infrastructure and regulatory framework of the capital market.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to further expand and develop joint activities on the above issues.
